Hedge fund short sellers have bet $16.2 billion against Tesla’s stock as its share price has halved in the past three months, according to S3 Partners.
The sharply falling market has wiped out more than $700 billion in market value, shaving more than $100 billion from Musk’s net worth, according to the Financial Times.
A“Tesla has very strong brand value, and Elon has completely destroyed it,” said Per Lekander, managing partner of Clean Energy Transition, a hedge fund that has been shorting Tesla for years.
